The penicillin-streptomycin solution is a mix of broad-spectrum antibiotics used to prevent or eliminate bacterial contamination (both Gram-negative and Gram-positive).
These two antibiotics work synergistically: penicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while streptomycin inhibits protein synthesis.
